That $200 Eee PC will NOT have a 10-inch screen

Last week, DigiTimes covered the Asus earnings call and quoted CEO Jerry Shen as saying that the company would offer a $200 netbook in 2009 while at the same time phasing out 7-inch and 8.9-inch displays.
Sizes up, costs down? Huh?
As it turns out, DigiTimes got it wrong.

Netbook Battle: Acer Shipments to Beat Asus’s Eee PC

ASUS has indicated that it will ship 5 million Eee PC netbooks this year. That’s big. But Acer thinks it’s output will be bigger.
Acer said that shipments of its Aspire One netbooks could reach 6 million units this year.
Do I hear 7 million from anyone? Anyone?

$200 Eee PC in 2009?

DigiTimes informs us that Jerry Shen, president of ASUS, will deliver a $200 Eee PC netbook some time in 2009. He also said that the company will be phasing out its 7-inch and 8.9-inch displays.
So, does this mean that a $200 10-inch netbook is in our future? Maybe, but it probably won’t have much in the way [...]
