Here’s another Apple Netbook rumor though this time, hypothesized by the folks at Apple Matters. Hadley Stern cites these five reasons why we’ll see an Apple Netbook at MacWorld in January:

Ezra Gottheil, an analyst from Technology Business Research, thinks that Apple may offer a $599 netbook in the first half of 2009.
He cites the economy, coupled with the surge in popularity of netbooks, as the impetus for the device.
At $999, the least expensive MacBook is twice or more the cost of the most frugal Windows [...]

The closest thing that Apple has to a netbook (at least in terms of weight) is now shipping with new specs. The revised MacBook Air includes a new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics system, a slightly faster CPU and a mini DisplayPort. It should come as no surprise that even with all of Steve Jobs denial that Apple would be working on producing a netbook.
